Biodiversity Social Projects Golden Gate Highlands National Park Closing date: 27 November 2020 The above position is contract position up to 31 March 2022 for Unarmed Environmental Monitor,. Salary for Unarmed Environmental Monitor will be on a daily rate of R199.00 Key Performance areas: Perform security functions at designated security posts within the Park. Law enforcement that will include participating in regular patrols (Foot, horseback and vehicle) to prevent poaching, unauthorized access and movement within the park. Assistance with natural resources management that includes the implementation of invasive plant, alien biota and unnatural soil erosion management systems General administration – including timesheets, logbooks and reports. Maintenance of fences, water points, roads and infrastructure. Assist with maintenance and management of all assets. Assist with activities in the park as and when required Monitoring of species of concern and human impact within the park Requirements: A grade 10 certificate (A grade 12 certificate will serve as an added advantage) Must be prepared to attend further relevant training courses as needed. Advanced Field Ranger training will serve as an added advantage No criminal record – SAPS Verification will be done. A fire arm competency certificate and use skill will serve as an added advantage Must be physically fit and must be willing to undergo a medical and fitness test Paramilitary course will service as an added advantage Ability to do long and extended patrols under difficult conditions PSIRA Grading will be an added advantage. On the Day of Interviews; Candidates must be prepared for light physical training and a timed 2.4km run.
