About the Role: Your Responsibilities

 

The General Worker position is diverse and dynamic, with no two days being exactly the same. Your responsibilities are focused on maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.

Your key duties will include:

  • General Cleaning & Hygiene: You will be responsible for the general cleaning of the entire premises, including the yard, bins, containers, silo, building, and bunkers. Maintaining these areas is crucial for preventing pest infestations and ensuring the quality of the stored grain. Your work directly contributes to meeting hygiene standards and preserving the value of the product.
  • Pest Control Assistance: A significant part of your role will involve assisting with pest control. This includes contact spraying for pest control in silo bins, machines, and buildings. You will also help with bin and storage fumigation to ensure all grain is stored in a pest-free environment.
  • Grain Handling & Logistics: You will be involved in the physical handling of grain. This includes the loading and off-loading of grain, both in bulk and in bags. This is a critical logistical task that ensures the smooth flow of products in and out of the silo.
  • Maintenance Support: You will assist with various maintenance tasks as required. Your ability to help with minor repairs and upkeep is valuable in ensuring the continuous operation of all silo machinery and equipment.
  • Screening Management: You will assist with the bagging, storage, and monitoring of graded screenings, ensuring that they are correctly handled and recorded.

 

Job Requirements & Ideal Candidate Profile

 

While no experience is required for this position, a strong work ethic and a desire to learn are essential. Senwes is looking for individuals who are ready to make a positive contribution from day one.

  • Education: A Grade 10 certificate is the minimum requirement, but candidates who have a National Senior Certificate will be given preference.
  • Skills: You must have great communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. A basic knowledge of the grain industry is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Personal Attributes: The ideal candidate is reliable, physically fit, and has a positive attitude. You must be able to follow instructions, be a quick learner, and be committed to maintaining a high standard of work.
