
Join a Leading Facilities Management Team in Cape Town
Bidvest Facilities Management is seeking a skilled and reliable Handyman to join its Customised Solutions – Unit 1 within the Operations division in Cape Town. This permanent role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the smooth functioning and upkeep of various facilities while working with a leader in the facilities services sector.

Role Purpose
The Handyman will be responsible for carrying out planned, preventive, and emergency maintenance across multiple facilities, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard and within set timelines.
Key Responsibilities
General Maintenance and Repairs
- Complete tasks according to job cards (work orders) in line with Client and Company requirements.
- Investigate and evaluate equipment malfunctions, implementing effective restoration measures.
- Perform minor repairs and servicing on electrical equipment and appliances as per the SLA.
Building and Structural Work
- Assist with office movement tasks, including installation of furniture, shop fitting, repairing doors, locks, handles, and windows.
- Replace ceiling tiles, carpet tiles, and carry out general painting work.
Plumbing and Air Conditioning
- Conduct minor repairs and servicing on plumbing-related equipment.
- Perform tier 1 inspections and repairs on air-conditioning systems.
Safety and Compliance
- Inspect and report on fire and access control equipment, including fire extinguishers, hose reels, hydrants, fire detectors, and access control devices.
- Provide regular progress updates to the Facilities Manager, Service Manager, Building Manager, or Resource Coordinator.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Matric / Senior Certificate.
- N3 Technical qualification (Electrical or Mechanical).
- Valid SA Driver’s License.
- Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in general building maintenance and handyman tasks.
- Basic training in hand tools, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
- Knowledge of the OHS Act and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
