Role Overview
The Storekeeper will be responsible for the administration and control of stock, liaising with suppliers and internal teams, and supervising the store associate. This contract position requires strong organizational and supervisory skills to maintain stock levels, ensure quality, and support catering operations efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Place orders and liaise with suppliers upon approval by the Project/Catering Manager.
- Verify prices and quantities on orders and invoices for accuracy.
- Issue stock and groceries to external departments as required.
- Weigh food products issued to staff for production.
- Manage stock ratios to align with budgeted minimum and maximum levels.
- Assist in weekly and monthly stock takes.
- Complete all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) records accurately and on time.
- Supervise the storeroom, fridge, and freezer areas, ensuring they are locked and cleaned regularly.
- Check all incoming goods for quality, correct labeling, and proper documentation.
- Receive and verify stock deliveries.
- Ensure stock is properly stored and packed away after meal services.
- Conduct quality checks on food products.
- Implement strict controls in fridge, freezer, and storeroom areas.
- Collaborate closely with the Project/Catering Manager and Catering Supervisors.
- Willingness to work over weekends when required.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience
- Matric certificate required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a logistics environment.
- Experience in hospitality preferred but not essential (training will be provided).
- Experience with Worksmart system advantageous.
- Supervisory experience beneficial.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Computer literate with good numerical and calculation skills.
- Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Capable of delegating tasks and supervising staff efficiently.
