Minimum Requirements
Essential
- Matric / Grade 12 certificate
- Experience in retail sales
- Computer literate
- Willing and able to work retail hours (weekends, holidays, shifts)
Advantageous
- Prior experience in cosmetics, beauty, or fragrance retail
- Knowledge of personal selling, sales targets, and customer liaison
Role Purpose
As a Cosmetic Consultant, you’ll be responsible for promoting and selling beauty and cosmetic products in-store, while delivering an exceptional customer service experience. You’ll assist customers with product selection, provide makeup demonstrations, and manage promotional activities to drive sales.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure each shopper leaves satisfied
- Demonstrate products through makeovers, product trials, spray promotions, and active selling
- Resolve customer queries professionally, and escalate serious complaints to the manager
- Assist in achieving brand, vendor, and department sales targets
Stock Control & Merchandising
- Monitor and maintain stock levels, reporting damaged, short-dated, and expired stock
- Ensure attractive and effective merchandising displays
- Rotate stock to prevent expiry and ensure product availability
Product & Industry Knowledge
- Stay up to date with new product launches, beauty trends, and retail promotions
- Support cosmetic and fragrance promotions and manage related salon appointments
- Participate in sales promotions, training, and personal development activities
Required Competencies
Essential
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Basic understanding of sales targets, commission, and customer engagement
- Ability to schedule tasks and work independently
Advantageous
- Bilingual (able to speak a third South African language)
- Formal sales or promotional training
- Knowledge of stock control and inventory management
Conditions of Employment
- Must be willing and able to work retail hours (weekends and holidays)
- Valid driver’s license and own reliable transport
- Must be a South African citizen
- Clear criminal and credit record
