Dis-Chem Pharmacies is recruiting Casual Cashiers to join their Kyalami Corner store in Pretoria. This is an exciting opportunity to enter South Africa’s retail pharmacy sector and gain experience with a leading national brand.

Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- Matric / Grade 12 is essential
- At least 6 months’ experience operating a till or working as a cashier
- Computer literate (MS Office proficiency)
- Numerically confident and detail-oriented
Essential Skills
- Strong English communication (written & verbal)
- Basic customer service orientation
- Familiar with cash handling and point-of-sale systems
- Willingness to work weekends and public holidays
Advantageous
- Ability to speak a third South African language
- Retail or pharmacy experience is a plus
Job Purpose
You’ll be responsible for supporting Dis-Chem’s customer service function by processing purchases, handling payments, and ensuring all point-of-sale activities are accurate, secure, and efficient. You will also be expected to contribute to the 5-star customer experience expected from Dis-Chem stores.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Build professional relationships with customers
- Handle customer complaints and queries with professionalism
- Keep informed about ongoing sales promotions
- Process all types of transactions, including cash, card, loyalty vouchers, and coupons
- Accurately record purchases and handle returns or exchanges as per policy
Point of Sale (POS) Operations
- Manage till transactions following company standard operating procedures
- Ensure that all merchandise, scripts, or stock items are scanned and accounted for
- Follow procedures for price changes, voids, and discount authorizations
- Maintain cash security and proper documentation in line with Dis-Chem SOPs
- Report suspicious activity and fraud risks immediately to supervisors
Loyalty & Rewards Processing
- Accurately process Dis-Chem loyalty cards and rewards from partners such as:
- Discovery Health Care
- Medihelp Lifestage
- Momentum Multiply
- ABSA Rewards
- eBucks
- Legacy Lifestyle

Conditions of Employment
