AECI Mining is hiring three experienced MMU Controllers to manage mobile manufacturing units (MMUs) across key mining operations in the North West region. This role is ideal for candidates with a valid Code EC Driver’s Licence, mechanical knowledge, and a strong commitment to quality and operational excellence.

Purpose of the Job
As an MMU Controller, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and managing all aspects of a mobile manufacturing unit (MMU) to deliver explosive materials safely and efficiently according to customer requirements and AECI standards.
The role combines mechanical aptitude, operational accountability, and compliance with regulatory and safety protocols—all in a high-stakes mining environment.
Key Responsibilities of the MMU Controller Role
1. MMU Operation and Maintenance
- Operate MMUs to mix and deliver bulk explosives to blasting sites
- Perform regular inspections based on SABS and World Class standards
- Conduct minor maintenance and ensure the MMU is clean and roadworthy
- Maintain accurate vehicle records and submit MMUs for scheduled servicing
- Ensure monthly maintenance is done according to World Class standards
2. Safety and Compliance
- Assist in stemming charged holes and safely managing on-site operations
- Ensure explosives are delivered to specification and in full compliance with site requirements
- Maintain MMU licensing and roadworthiness in collaboration with FSS (Field Support Services)
- Pass all health, safety, and psychomotor compliance tests (Red Ticket and PrDP required)
3. Operational Efficiency and Cost Control
- Identify and eliminate sources of waste in daily operations
- Support the achievement of budget targets by controlling operating costs
- Deliver explosive products on-time, safely, and within budget parameters
- Uphold high standards of housekeeping for vehicles and on-site equipment

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for the MMU Controller position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 or equivalent (Matric)
- Valid Code EC Driver’s Licence – this is essential
- Must be able to obtain a Red Ticket and PrDP
- Good mechanical aptitude and physical readiness for site work
- Ability to pass a psychomotor assessment as part of compliance
- Experience with vehicle and explosives handling will be a significant advantage
