Role Overview

The core purpose of the Receiving Controller position is to manage the effective receiving of goods in accordance with strict company policies and procedures. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that stock is received, checked, and processed accurately, contributing directly to efficient warehouse operations and seamless supply chain processes.

This is a high-responsibility role that demands attention to detail, accuracy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

Receiving Control

• Oversee all incoming deliveries to ensure goods are received, inspected, and confirmed accurately and timeously.

• Receive stock from suppliers and customer returns, ensuring quality and compliance with standards.

• Conduct colour and quality checks to confirm stock matches company requirements.

• Monitor unloading of goods and report damaged or incomplete deliveries immediately.

• Ensure stock is neatly binned, labelled, and displayed according to warehouse standards.

• Maintain accurate records of all stock credits and returns.

Administration

• Complete all receiving paperwork with precision and maintain updated data systems.

• Manage temporary labour requirements based on operational needs.

• Conduct induction training for temporary staff, ensuring health and safety compliance.

• Oversee forklift operations, inspections, and maintenance schedules.

Warehouse Assistance

• Provide general support across warehouse functions as required.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment at all times.

SHEQ Integrated Management System Control

• Enforce strict compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act.

• Conduct regular quality checks on packaging, labelling, and storage standards.

• Actively participate in improvement initiatives, incident reporting, and internal audits.

• Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping within the receiving area.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.

• Valid Forklift Driver’s Licence is essential.

• Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a Receiving Controller role or similar.

• At least 3 years’ experience in operations or warehousing environments.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and SAGE Evolution or similar warehouse management systems.

• Sound knowledge of best practices in receiving, stock control, and health and safety regulations.
