mothers2mothers (m2m) is a renowned African-led, women-centered non-profit organization dedicated to preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV and improving maternal and child health. The organization provides integrated health services and education in communities across ten countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

In this USAID-funded project, m2m collaborates with Pact and key government stakeholders across Ehlanzeni, Nkangala, and Gert Sibande districts in Mpumalanga. The initiative aims to improve the health and wellbeing of children and adolescents living with HIV (CLHIV) and their families, covering ages 0–20 years. The implementation window is 1 July to 15 September 2025, subject to change.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a District Coordinator, you will lead and oversee site-level implementation of m2m’s community-based services across one of the three target districts. The role requires effective coordination of programme activities, staff management, stakeholder engagement, and continuous quality improvement to achieve project goals in line with ACHIEVE programme standards.

This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced community health programme professional with expertise in public health, HIV programming, and government stakeholder management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

District and Site Management

  • Oversee daily operations and implementation at site level to ensure quality service delivery aligned with m2m’s standards

  • Supervise and support Case Coordinators and Family Mentors, including performance management, leave planning, and individual training needs assessments

  • Facilitate development of site-level workplans in collaboration with the Project Manager

  • Ensure integration and alignment with local health and social development structures

Performance Monitoring and Improvement

  • Conduct routine on-site visits, virtual mentoring, and monthly performance improvement meetings

  • Collaborate with the Strategic Information (SI) unit to refine tools such as dashboards and referral tracking systems

  • Monitor programme data, analyze performance trends, and implement course correction as needed

  • Work with data capturers to ensure timely and accurate reporting to project leadership

Capacity Building & Supervision

  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training of field staff

  • Conduct on-site capacity-building workshops and mentorship activities

  • Promote team cohesion, problem-solving, and motivation across project teams

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with DOH, DSD, CSOs, and other relevant partners

  • Represent m2m in district and sub-district stakeholder meetings, forums, and technical working groups

  • Collaborate with Linkage Officers and ACHIEVE leadership to co-plan and implement interventions

  • Support the documentation and dissemination of success stories and best practices

Project Coordination and Administration

  • Participate in quarterly reviews, project management team meetings, and donor reporting processes

  • Implement geo-specific improvement plans for underperforming areas

  • Ensure optimal use of resources and escalate HR or programme-related challenges to senior leadership

  • Support logistics for training events and community outreach initiatives

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Public Health, Nursing Sciences, or Social Sciences

  • 5+ years of experience in community health programmes, including 2+ years in supervisory roles

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly across sites

Experience & Technical Skills

  • Experience working in Mpumalanga’s public health and social services ecosystem

  • Understanding of OVC, PMTCT, MNCH, and early childhood development frameworks

  • Familiarity with m2m or ACHIEVE programmatic tools for supervision and mentorship

  • Proven ability to interpret and use programme data for decision-making

  • Background in clinical service delivery is an advantage

  • Experience producing quality donor reports

  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders

  • High-level communication, presentation, and writing skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Fluent in English and at least one local language (SiSwati, IsiZulu, or IsiNdebele)
