Fedics is seeking a passionate Cook to join its Gauteng Talentpool, specifically based in Roodepoort. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of culinary skill, efficiency, hygiene awareness, and a strong sense of customer service.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Cook will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals across different outlets including fast food and healthcare settings. This role requires someone with a strong background in food preparation, attention to hygiene standards, and a customer-first approach. The position also involves assisting in kitchen upkeep, waste management, and maintaining positive relationships with all customers and team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and serve high-quality meals, fast food, and sandwiches in accordance with the brand’s standards

  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen and service area at all times

  • Ensure excellent presentation and taste of all food served

  • Support and assist with unit stock-takes and inventory controls

  • Maintain excellent relationships with customers, ensuring consistent, sincere, and respectful interaction

  • Comply with food safety regulations and internal hygiene protocols

  • Ensure consistent portion control and presentation to achieve quality standards

  • Assist in waste removal and dishwashing, maintaining a sanitary working environment

  • Be flexible in executing other duties as assigned, especially during peak times or special events

  • Follow loss prevention guidelines and maintain stock discipline

  • Exhibit appropriate workplace behavior and professionalism at all times

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

To be successful in this role, the candidate must possess the following:

  • Strong customer service orientation

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

  • Previous experience as a Food Service Assistant or in a similar food preparation role

  • Prior work experience in a healthcare setting is highly advantageous

  • Attention to detail and consistency in delivering food quality

  • Team-player with the ability to follow instruction and company policies

  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends if required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Matric (Grade 12) qualification is required

  • Formal food preparation or culinary training is an added advantage

  • Must have prior experience working in a healthcare or institutional kitchen environment

  • A food safety certificate will be beneficial
