ROLE OVERVIEW
AB InBev is looking for a passionate and determined Packaging Technical Trainee to join its dynamic team at the Polokwane Brewery. This structured 18-month technical development programme is designed to equip graduates with vital packaging skills, operational expertise, and leadership exposure, preparing them to take on full responsibility within packaging operations upon successful completion. This opportunity is ideal for engineering graduates ready to jump-start their careers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Gain in-depth understanding of the theory, functionality, and hands-on operation of various Packaging equipment within the Packaging Hall.

Participate in strategic Packaging projects aligned with both programme goals and brewery priorities.

Apply the principles of VPO (Voyager Plant Optimization) to streamline and improve operational performance.

Analyze and diagnose both systemic and situational problems, offering viable troubleshooting solutions.

Actively participate in Packaging team structures and take on leadership roles during the programme to build managerial competence.

Document and communicate learnings, challenges, and process improvements across multiple levels of the organization.

Support the packaging team in daily operations and contribute to achieving performance KPIs.

Engage in continuous learning to build a robust technical foundation and deepen operational understanding.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

A BSc, BTech, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.

Minimum of 2 years Packaging experience in a manufacturing or FMCG environment is required.

Strong technical aptitude and eagerness to work in a hands-on, operational role.

Solid analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

Willingness to learn and adapt in a high-performance, fast-paced production setting.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team structure while also managing independent responsibilities.
