ROLE OVERVIEW

AB InBev is seeking an experienced and dynamic Tax Manager to join its Africa Zone Tax Team. This role is a unique opportunity to lead tax operations and strategic initiatives across several key African markets including Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania, Nigeria, and Ghana. Reporting directly to the Africa Tax Director, the successful candidate will oversee regional tax compliance, optimization projects, and team mentorship, while acting as a trusted advisor on business and legislative tax matters.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead tax operations for entities across the African region, including monthly tax reporting, budgeting, and ensuring full tax compliance.

  • Drive tax optimization strategies that align with company goals, while delivering expert advice on regional and cross-border transactions.

  • Manage interactions with tax authorities and play a key role in shaping favorable tax policies and legislation.

  • Lead audits and disputes, working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to mitigate risks.

  • Execute key zone-wide initiatives related to tax digitalization, transfer pricing, risk management, and training development.

  • Mentor two direct-report tax managers and oversee several in-country managers to build a high-performance tax function.

  • Collaborate closely with the shared service center (NOCC) to ensure consistent, accurate, and timely tax reporting.

  • Leverage technology and data analytics to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of tax processes.

  • Serve as a business partner by offering strategic tax insights that create value and support business decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, law, or a closely related field.

  • A professional tax qualification is required.

  • Minimum of 10 years of tax experience, ideally in a multinational corporate environment or a top-tier professional tax advisory firm.

  • Advanced knowledge of tax laws, international taxation, and strong financial and analytical acumen.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing diverse teams and projects in fast-paced environments.

  • High ethical standards and a strong sense of professional integrity and confidentiality.

  • Flexibility and willingness to travel across Africa and internationally when required.

ADVANTAGEOUS ATTRIBUTES

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and tax systems such as SAP or Syspro.

  • Strong aptitude for learning new software systems and technologies quickly.

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in multicultural, complex environments.
