The Kruger National Park, one of Africa’s largest and most prestigious reserves, is now seeking a dedicated Occupational Health & Safety Practitioner to ensure safe and compliant working environments across the park’s operations. This role falls under the Human Capital Management (HCM) division.

Role Overview

As an Occupational Health & Safety Practitioner, you will be responsible for the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of OHS standards, legislation, and systems across the Kruger National Park. Your mission will be to develop and maintain a comprehensive OHS programme that supports staff well-being and ensures compliance with national safety laws and SANParks’ internal policies.

The position offers a competitive CTC of R501,165.00 per annum, with accommodation available within the park, providing a rare opportunity to live and work in one of South Africa’s most iconic conservation areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement incident reporting systems and procedures

  • Coordinate periodic audits, inspections, and workplace surveillance

  • Evaluate OHS programmes and procedures regularly for effectiveness

  • Compile and submit detailed statistical and incident reports

  • Perform incident statistical analysis to identify trends and corrective actions

  • Coordinate Malaria Control spraying in collaboration with government departments

  • Assess and approve contractor health and safety plans

  • Participate in project planning meetings as a health and safety consultant

  • Conduct contractor inductions and safety inspections

  • Advise and consult with line managers and teams on OHS matters

  • Establish internal communication and safety structures for better compliance

  • Monitor and manage overtime hours in accordance with BCEA and SANParks policies

  • Liaise with relevant professional bodies and regulatory stakeholders

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety or Safety Management

  • BTech or Degree in the same field will be advantageous

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in occupational health and safety

  • Registration with Saiosh and/or SACPCMP (preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993, COIDA, and related legislation

  • Valid driver’s licence

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills
