Role Overview

The Field Manager II plays a crucial role in ensuring that all in-store operations, promotional activities, and sales targets are successfully executed across assigned territories. Your mission is to lead a team of field representatives, manage stakeholder relationships, and optimize in-store presence of key product lines. You will also serve as the bridge between head office directives and on-the-ground retail execution, ensuring efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and continuous business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Manage Promotional Activity

  • Plan and execute promotional calendars in alignment with marketing strategy

  • Ensure Point of Sale (POS) materials are displayed in accordance with promotional guidelines

  • Track and analyze performance of campaigns and report back to leadership

Pro-Active Operational Excellence

  • Continuously evaluate processes to improve speed-to-market and reduce inefficiencies

  • Implement best practices for resource and time management across all field functions

  • Drive cost-effectiveness and compliance with operational standards

Teamwork and Self-Management

  • Lead by example through professional conduct, self-motivation, and discipline

  • Promote a culture of collaboration and accountability within the sales team

  • Encourage open communication and performance transparency

People Management

  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and training of new field team members

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching for development

  • Ensure compliance with labor practices and promote employee well-being

Efficient Achievement of Targets

  • Meet and exceed monthly and quarterly sales objectives

  • Ensure in-store execution is aligned with key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Take corrective action when targets are not met and implement strategic solutions

Monitor New Innovations

  • Stay updated on competitor activity and market trends

  • Share intelligence with sales and product teams to inform go-to-market strategies

  • Test new product lines and report feedback to internal stakeholders

Business Insights and Execution

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret sales data to uncover actionable insights

  • Forecast demand and plan field strategies accordingly

  • Prepare business reports and deliver performance presentations

Control Expenses

  • Monitor team expenses including travel, vehicle usage, cell phone usage, and training costs

  • Ensure cost control policies are adhered to across all levels

  • Submit monthly expense reports and recommendations for budget optimization

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain strong relationships with store managers, regional leads, and supply chain teams

  • Coordinate with external partners and service providers to improve field operations

  • Serve as a brand ambassador during store visits, meetings, and trade events

Achieve POP Objectives

  • Ensure compliance with Planograms and shelf layout standards

  • Maximize forward share and ensure the brand presence reflects rate of sale (ROS)

  • Conduct routine audits and submit photographic evidence of execution

Minimum Requirements

  • 3–5 years of sales experience in the FMCG industry at a managerial or supervisory level

  • Relevant Diploma or Degree (NQF Level 6 or 7)

  • Valid Code 8 Driver’s License

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and reporting tools

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Proven leadership, problem-solving, and sales management capabilities

  • High level of business acumen, analytical ability, and commercial awareness

  • Strong organizational, planning, and negotiation skills
