🎯 Role Overview
The Porter is responsible for providing personalized luggage services and ensuring guests feel welcomed upon their arrival and departure. This role requires physical stamina, an open attitude, and a passion for delivering high-quality customer service. The Porter is the first point of contact for guests, playing a crucial part in their overall experience.
You will be required to work shifts that align with the operational requirements of the hotel.
📌 Key Responsibilities
🧳 Luggage Services & Customer Assistance

Collect and transport guest luggage to and from their rooms
-
Escort guests to their rooms, placing luggage and providing room amenities information
-
Handle luggage storage requests and ensure safety and confidentiality
-
Deliver faxes, messages, and packages to guest rooms
-
Transport departing guests’ luggage to their vehicles
-
Assist in preparing and distributing welcome/VIP amenities
🌟 Customer Engagement & Service

Greet guests warmly upon arrival and departure

Engage with guests to understand their preferences and assist with any requests

Handle customer complaints and provide timely resolutions

Assist guests with hotel facilities, services, and promotions, enhancing their stay

Maintain a professional and respectful attitude at all times
🧠 Operational Duties

Monitor the cleanliness of front-of-house areas

Identify and report maintenance issues and ensure prompt resolution
-
Keep track of luggage documentation and ensure accurate labeling
-
Assist in operational tasks such as answering the concierge phone and helping with inquiries
🎓 Qualifications and Experience
Education:
-
Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
Experience:
-
Minimum of 2 years in a customer-facing role, ideally in hospitality
-
Previous experience with luggage procedures and hotel operations is beneficial
🧠 Skills and Competencies
Core Skills:

Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Problem-solving and critical thinking ability to address guest concerns

Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Basic PC skills and knowledge of Opera is advantageous
