Role Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified Pharmacist for its Groblersdal branch. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering pharmaceutical care, dispensing medication, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the health and well-being of patients. This role also requires oversight of assistants and interns, ensuring service excellence and safety in line with GPP (Good Pharmacy Practice) and SAPC regulations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patientsโ€™ medicine-related needs, ensuring indication, safety, and effectiveness.

  • Dispense medication as per prescriptions and take accountability for assistant/intern-prepared prescriptions.

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on medication usage and therapy compliance.

  • Monitor and ensure patient adherence to treatments and perform follow-ups.

  • Manage compounding, manipulation, or packaging of medications.

  • Oversee the acquisition, storage, supply, and record-keeping of scheduled substances.

  • Accurately capture and verify prescription and patient data using in-house systems.

  • Check for drug interactions and common dosages, ensuring safe dispensation.

  • Offer guidance at the dispensary and self-medication counters.

  • Stay updated with medical aid protocols, assist with claims and error corrections.

  • Ensure legal and professional compliance in all pharmaceutical practices.

  • Support the Dispensary Manager with stock control, low-stock reporting, and audits.

  • Participate in stock counts, uphold store hygiene standards, and adhere to Dis-Chemโ€™s policies.


Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Matric / Grade 12

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) or equivalent qualification

  • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

  • 2โ€“3 years pharmaceutical and retail pharmacy experience (student/internship experience included)

  • Proficiency in MS Office

Advantageous:

  • SAP, Unisolv, and E-scripting experience

  • Registered tutor status

  • Additional language proficiency

  • Relevant retail/FMCG exposure
