Role Overview
Tiger Brands is seeking a qualified Fitter to join the Culinary division. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and optimizing engineering equipment to ensure plant availability and product quality at the lowest cost. The position involves providing operational support, performing repairs, and contributing to the ongoing maintenance of plant equipment to maintain high standards of operation. The role will require collaboration with the Maintenance Coordinator to embed maintenance processes within the organization.

Key Responsibilities
As a Fitter, your responsibilities will include:

  • Operational Support: Provide expert support to shift-based teams during operations and assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving as needed.

  • Running Repairs: Participate in repairs of plant equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal functionality.

  • Problem Solving: Apply problem-solving methodologies to address and resolve issues that arise during routine operations.

  • Planned Maintenance: Actively contribute to maintenance planning meetings, offer suggestions, and help clarify work requirements.

  • Housekeeping & Safety: Ensure compliance with safety standards at all times and identify and rectify unsafe practices within the workplace.

  • Plant Availability: Maintain a plant availability rate of over 95% at all times.

  • Compliance Standards: Ensure that all operational and compliance standards are met, including supplier and contractor requirements.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • Minimum Requirements:

    • NTC3 with matric mathematics and science

    • Qualified Fitter

    • Solid understanding of maintenance systems and engineering standards

    • Experience with high-speed packaging machinery is a must

  • Skills:

    • Analytical and problem-solving skills

    • High numeracy and technical proficiency

    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

    • Integrity and a commitment to continuous learning

    • A proactive approach to leadership and driving long-term results

  • Experience:

    • At least 5 years of experience in the industry, with 1 year within an FMCG environment
