Role Overview:
Smollan is seeking a dedicated and experienced Supervisor I in Pretoria to oversee and lead regional sales and retail operations. The successful candidate will ensure key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sell-out growth, promotional execution, stock management, and client engagement are achieved. This position requires an individual who thrives in fast-paced retail environments, possesses strong leadership qualities, and understands the FMCG, consumer electronics, or cellular industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Retail Execution:

Break down sales targets by brand, store, and customer profile

Increase volumes by tracking product performance and driving sales of fast-moving goods

Drive promotional activities, negotiate optimal shelf space, and monitor pricing anomalies

Ensure stock availability and manage returns efficiently

Identify and implement strategies to boost revenue and meet promotional targets
Training and Compliance:

Train and register store consultants on the MCS system
-
Drive in-store compliance and ensure effective implementation of promotional grids

Monitor the deployment and maintenance of POS (Point of Sale) material
-
Conduct weekly audits and feedback sessions with staff to ensure continuous improvement
Retail Mapping and Data Management:

Utilize handheld systems to capture field data and generate actionable reports

Monitor and manage the effectiveness of new product distribution
-
Identify retail asset opportunities and ensure effective product placements
Product Innovation and Speed-to-Market:

Inform stakeholders about new innovations and product launches

Negotiate listings and ensure timely rollout of new lines
-
Provide detailed feedback on market trends and competitor activities
Client and Stakeholder Engagement:

Build lasting relationships with store owners, managers, and internal teams

Provide real-time reporting on competitor pricing, promotional impact, and category performance

Conduct regular review meetings with clients and staff to ensure alignment and strategy execution
Operations and Asset Management:

Ensure compliance with asset usage policies and maintain updated asset registers

Manage vehicle, fuel, and mobile expenses within approved budget limits

Monitor salary input, leave management, and staff expense claims for accuracy

Conduct performance reviews, disciplinary hearings, and coaching interventions as required
People Management:

Lead a high-performing team through structured performance management, coaching, and development

Drive recruitment, training, and succession planning for team growth

Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum Requirements:

Diploma or Degree at NQF Level 6 or 7

Valid Code 08 driverβs license

3β4 years of sales experience

Minimum 2 years in FMCG, consumer electronics, or cellular environment at a supervisory level
Desirable Skills:

Experience in high-volume retail settings

Strong reporting and presentation abilities

Familiarity with retail execution software and systems
