Role Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Casual Merchandiser to join their team at the Jeffrey’s Bay store. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards are maintained, with a focus on product presentation, stock rotation, and customer service. You will be expected to help maximize sales by keeping shelves stocked, organized, and aligned with Dis-Chem’s operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Casual Merchandiser, your duties will include:

Stock Restocking and Rotation: Ensure merchandise is restocked in a timely manner, adhering to Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards. Rotate stock regularly on a First In First Out (FIFO) basis to maintain product freshness and availability.

Maintain Stock Availability: Ensure the store shelves are always fully stocked with the correct range of products. Report any low stock, out-of-stock items, damaged goods, or expired products to management.

Stock Organization: Ensure that products are stored correctly in the storeroom and that stock is neatly arranged on shelves. Flatten and remove boxes after unpacking, taking them to the designated area.

Product Presentation: Ensure that the store’s shelves, merchandise displays, and products are neat, organized, and clearly visible with correct labeling and pricing. Maintain an appealing in-store environment for customers.

Assist with Stocktaking: Participate in general stocktaking activities and help with counting stock files as needed.

Customer Service: Provide excellent service by assisting customers with their stock queries, advising on products, and following up on out-of-stock items. Ensure all customer interactions are friendly, helpful, and professional.

Merchandising and Displays: Build, stock, and maintain merchandising displays, ensuring that promotional materials and new products are prominently featured.

Loss Prevention: Handle merchandise carefully to minimize any potential losses and ensure compliance with store policies and health and safety regulations.

Team Support: Assist with loading and off-loading stock deliveries and support the training of new staff members when necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
The ideal candidate must meet the following qualifications and experience:

Essential:

Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent secondary school qualification.

Up to 6 months’ retail experience or previous experience in a similar role.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Willingness and ability to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.

Strong command of the English language (both written and oral).

Advantageous:

At least 1 year of retail experience, particularly in merchandising.

Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry.

Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for ordering and stock-taking.
