Role Overview:
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a Health Merchandiser for their Hemmingways store in East London, Eastern Cape. The Health Merchandiser will play a crucial role in maintaining Dis-Chem’s high merchandising standards, ensuring that products are stocked, presented, and rotated in compliance with business needs. The role also involves delivering outstanding customer service to ensure a positive shopping experience.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Health Merchandiser, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Stock Management: Restock merchandise on the shelves according to business requirements. Ensure that all stock pulled from the storeroom is stored and packed in the correct space.

  • Product Presentation: Ensure that products are always available on the shelves, properly displayed, and presented in an organized and appealing manner.

  • Stock Rotation: Regularly rotate stock to ensure that older products are sold first (First In, First Out).

  • Merchandising Displays: Build and maintain eye-catching merchandising displays and ensure that they are stocked, neat, and correctly labeled.

  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, assisting with product queries and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Stocktaking Assistance: Assist with regular stocktaking and report any discrepancies.

  • Health and Safety Compliance: Follow health and safety regulations, especially when handling stock and lifting heavy boxes.

  • Back Shopping: Assist with back shopping tasks, ensuring that any out-of-stock items are restocked as quickly as possible.

  • Issue Resolution: Resolve any customer stock queries or concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Qualifications and Experience:
To be considered for the Health Merchandiser position, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Essential:

    • Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent secondary school qualification.

    • Up to 6 months’ retail experience in a similar environment.

    • Computer literate, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

    • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.

  • Advantageous:

    • Diploma or degree in a health-related field (such as health merchandising or product management).

    • At least 1 year of retail experience, particularly in merchandising or the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industry.

    • Familiarity with SAP or Unisolv retail systems.

    • Knowledge of product and category management within the health and wellness sector.

    • Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for stock ordering and management.

Special Conditions of Employment:

  • Willingness to work retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.

  • Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy merchandise.

  • Reliable transport or ability to live close to the Hemmingways store.

  • South African citizen with a clear credit and criminal record.
