Role Overview:
DSV is looking for a qualified and detail-oriented Pharmacist Assistant to join our Solutions division at our Kempton Park site. This role requires a motivated individual who will ensure adherence to pharmaceutical regulations and maintain high standards of quality assurance in a warehousing and distribution setting. The successful candidate will support the Responsible Pharmacist in maintaining pharmaceutical integrity and ensuring regulatory compliance across operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with compliance requirements as outlined in the Pharmacy Act 53/1974 and Medicines and Related Substances Control Act 101/1965, including all related regulations.

  • Uphold GxP principles at DSV’s wholesale pharmacy at Gauteng Park.

  • Act as a Pharmaceutical Quality Representative, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to Healthcare QMS standards.

  • Participate in audits (internal, client, and regulatory) and assist with non-conformance closures via CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions).

  • Accurately record and maintain the flow of pharmaceutical products, including receiving, sampling, retention, recalls, returns, and complaints (pharmacovigilance).

  • Support the Responsible Pharmacist in decision-making regarding damaged goods, market returns, and product quality assessments.

  • Assist with the development and implementation of operational SOPs, process flows, and documentation to support quality standards.

  • Maintain DSV’s central reporting systems for service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Engage in waste management practices in compliance with regulatory standards.

  • Ensure facility and equipment compliance in collaboration with Compliance Specialists.

  • Escalate system failures, risks, or operational shortcomings promptly to the Responsible Pharmacist or Quality Lead.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Grade 12 (Matric)

  • Certification: Post-Basic Pharmacist Assistant or Pharmacist Technician qualification accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC)

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 1 year post-certification experience in the pharmacy sector

    • Previous exposure to warehouse/distribution pharmaceutical environments is advantageous

    • Prior DSV experience and GxP/ISO 13485 certification will be an added advantage

Computer Literacy:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

  • Advanced ability to navigate digital systems and maintain accurate electronic records

Preferred Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical and healthcare compliance standards

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to work independently with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Familiarity with quality assurance, product lifecycle management, and SOP creation

  • Good organizational skills and time management

  • Willingness to take initiative and address operational issues proactively
