Purpose of the Role

The Delivery Driver is responsible for safely operating an assigned truck, ensuring roadworthiness, and delivering goods accurately and on time. Duties include conducting pre-trip inspections, maintaining communication with customers, adhering to safety and compliance standards, and keeping accurate delivery records.

Key Responsibilities

1. Driving & Delivery Operations

• Safely operate a Code 10 truck and conduct daily vehicle checks.
• Transport and deliver goods accurately and on time to designated locations.
• Comply with all road and traffic laws, as well as company policies.

2. Customer Service & Communication

• Communicate professionally with customers, warehouse personnel, and stakeholders.
• Assist customers with inquiries and ensure a positive delivery experience.
• Report any delivery-related concerns or incidents promptly.

3. Vehicle Maintenance & Safety

• Keep the delivery vehicle clean, organized, and stocked with required documentation.
• Identify and report any mechanical issues for maintenance or repairs.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE).

4. Record-Keeping & Compliance

• Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery receipts.
• Ensure proper documentation of all deliveries, payments, and returns.
• Follow all regulatory and safety compliance requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent qualification.
Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a delivery driver (FMCG retail experience preferred).
License: Valid Code 10 driver’s license with a valid PDP.
Skills & Competencies:

• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Time management and problem-solving abilities.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
