Purpose of the Role

The Accounts Payable Data Steward will be responsible for ensuring accurate invoice quality control and timely payments to suppliers. This includes adhering to efficient accounts payable processes, handling discrepancies, and working with multiple stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance the three-way matching process for invoice quality and accuracy, identifying root causes and resolving discrepancies.
  • Check invoice quality by comparing submissions with source documents (purchase orders, contracts) and following system protocols (e.g., COUPA).
  • Post correct invoices to the ERP (SAP) system following proper procedures.
  • Identify and resolve problems or mismatches through COUPA and source documentation.
  • Monitor COUPA reports, taking follow-up action or escalating issues as necessary.
  • Provide administrative support by solving routine problems within the P2P (procure-to-pay) value chain.
  • Follow procedures for efficient invoice checking and accounts payable processes to meet financial objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to address data gaps and discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • Essential: Diploma in Commerce, Accounting, Business Processes, or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Exposure to working in Africa.

Experience & Skills

  • Experience: 3 years in an accounts payable function.
  • Skills:
    • Strong technical knowledge of accounting and accounts payable processes.
    • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel & PowerPoint).
    • Knowledge of SAP is essential, COUPA experience is a plus.
    • Ability to perform root cause analysis and error resolution.
    • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
    • Ability to multitask and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • A proactive, customer-focused mindset and ability to work in a demanding global environment.
