Overview
Anglo American Platinum is looking for a skilled Section Geologist to provide expert geological services at our Thabazimbi operation. In this critical role, you will drive the efficient exploitation of ore reserves, ensuring the delivery of safe, profitable mining activities while optimizing resource management and geological processes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Geological Standards Development: Maintain high standards to optimize ore grade and support mine planning, designs, and ore extraction.
- Grade Control: Oversee stope widths, underground sampling, and reporting to ensure maximum ore body exploitation.
- Geology Drilling Program: Supervise underground geological drilling, ensuring the effective exposure of PGE mineralization and proper sampling.
- Ore Body Risk Management: Advise management on geological risks, providing recommendations for effective mine design and planning.
- Data Validation and Reporting: Compile accurate geological reports, sections, and plans for mine planning and operations.
- Training and Development: Support training and induction for new employees in geological procedures and safety.
- Optimization of Ore Reserves: Ensure the proper management of available ore reserves and recommend strategies to reduce geological losses.
- Proactive Planning: Contribute to avoiding white areas by participating in planning and ensuring accurate geological forecasting.
Qualifications:
- Matric or equivalent.
- BSc/BTech in Geology (minimum requirement).
- 2 years’ post-qualification experience in mining geology.
- 2 years’ post-qualification experience in Bushveld and platinum geology (advantageous).
Experience and Skills:
- Expertise in geological standards and ore body management.
- Familiarity with geology-related complexities in mining operations.
- Ability to produce detailed geological reports and coordinate geological teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in geological software and systems to manage drilling, sampling, and data analysis.
