🔎 We’re Hiring: Transport and Operations Manager – Logistics
PPC is seeking a Transport and Operations Manager to lead our coastal transport planning and dispatch team. This pivotal role involves managing inbound transport, optimising route scheduling for both inbound and outbound logistics, and ensuring the safe, cost-effective distribution of bulk and bag cement to customers. The role will involve coordinating logistics between multiple plants and driving performance through the TMS system.
📊 Key Responsibilities
As Transport and Operations Manager, you will:
- Lead and manage Transport Planning and Dispatch teams.
- Develop strategies for optimising sourcing, routing, and scheduling using the TMS platform.
- Monitor logistics performance, ensuring the best possible transport planning and service delivery to customers.
- Manage costs, aligning with budget constraints and optimising transport operations.
- Ensure compliance with transport regulations, internal policies, and contract requirements.
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring smooth coordination between Plants and S&OP teams.
- Collaborate with various departments to streamline the logistics function and achieve overall supply chain excellence.
🎓 Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations Management
- Postgraduate qualification in Commerce, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Operations Management (ideal)
Experience
- 10 years of experience in the cement or similar industry, with a strong focus on production management, sales, and logistics
- 5 years of experience in Transport Management and Planning, ideally within the cement industry
- 5 years of experience in Inventory Management and utilising TMS platforms
- Proven track record of managing logistics operations and cost optimisation
Key Competencies
- Expertise in Supply Chain sustainability, transportation, and distribution management
- TMS data analysis and operational skills
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to report accurately and meet tight deadlines
- Experience in risk management and stakeholder engagement
💼 Special Requirements
- Available on standby after hours to resolve transport or operational issues
- Flexibility to travel between various PPC Plant sites
- Ability to rotate and stand in for other managers if required
