Job Purpose

To lead the Divisional Operations by driving the achievement of strategic objectives, managing commercial agreements and projects, and ensuring high operational performance. This role ensures compliance with standards and contractual deliverables while maintaining stakeholder satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Business/Functional Management

  • Participate in setting and implementing divisional strategies and operational actions.
  • Oversee all operating sites and projects to ensure sustainability and uphold the company’s reputation.

Financial, Commercial & Contracts Management

  • Report operational goals and performance to the Divisional General Manager.
  • Build long-term commercial relationships with customers, ensuring business development and profitability.
  • Ensure effective cost control, contract management, and identify new business opportunities with existing clients.

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Provide leadership in managing risks, ensuring compliance with the Group’s risk management framework.
  • Align operations with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) requirements, ensuring full compliance.

Stakeholder Management

  • Balance operational needs with stakeholder requirements to support growth and profitability.
  • Maintain effective relationships across all levels within internal and external stakeholders.

Operating System Management & Reporting

  • Define reporting requirements and ensure appropriate management controls are in place.
  • Drive regional performance through effective data analysis, reporting, and trend monitoring.

SHEQ Management

  • Foster a Zero Harm safety culture across all operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all SHEQ requirements, identifying and managing risks.

Team Management

  • Select and lead competent and passionate individuals.
  • Drive capacity building and performance management for team members.

Qualifications

  • BSc Engineering or BTech Engineering (Mining/Metallurgical or equivalent)
  • Postgraduate qualification is advantageous.

Experience

  • Over 15 years experience in mineral processing operations at a management level.
  • Relevant experience in managing complex projects, including contract, financial, risk, commercial, and operational planning.

Skills, Qualities, and Abilities

  • Excellent commercial and contract management skills.
  • Strong understanding of mineral processing and related technical/commercial offerings.
  • Solid leadership, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Emotional Intelligence, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong risk management and operational optimization skills.
