Position Overview
The Accountant will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of financial information and reports for external use, ensuring compliance with company regulations and professional reporting guidelines. This includes managing sustainability reporting, marine insurance analysis, VAT consolidation and returns, warranty functions, and creditor management.
Key Responsibilities
Sustainability and After Sales Board Pack
- Quarterly Reporting: Request information from departments for risk and sustainability reports (e.g., Business Continuity Plan, Health and Safety, Disaster Recovery Plan).
- Board Pack Preparation: Prepare and distribute risk and sustainability board packs, as well as Aftersales board packs.
Marine Insurance
- Bond Analysis: Prepare monthly bond analysis for insurance purposes using stock reports and confirming incomplete units.
- Reporting: Report on bond analysis per Bill of Lading, RRG, and Region.
VAT Consolidation and Return
- Weekly Checks: Ensure VAT entries are processed correctly and adjustments are made before month-end.
- VAT 201 Submission: Complete VAT 201 returns, reconcile with dealers and RPDC, and submit to SARS.
- VAT Refunds: Prepare documentation for VAT refunds and follow up with SARS.
- Reconciliation: Reconcile VAT output as per reports, ensuring compliance with VAT regulations.
Warranty Function
- Claims Processing: Upload CLM file, reconcile weekly, and process warranty journals for parts rebate, overflow, chargeback audit, and goodwill.
- Warranty Debtors: Allocate warranty debtors and check claim status daily.
- Budget Management: Maintain and track goodwill budgets.
Warranty Creditors
- Reconciliation: Prepare creditor reports for external and intergroup accounts, assist in creditor reconciliation and payments.
- Automation Batches: Create and submit automation batches to dealers.
- Payment Processing: Ensure accurate payment processing and communication with the debtor’s department.
Creditors – Preparation of Recon and Payment
- Manage buybacks, demo leases, and e-tolls, ensuring timely reconciliations and payment preparation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: BCom Accounting Degree
- Experience: 4-5 years in a similar role
- Skills:
- Advanced Excel skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Initiative and creative problem-solving ability
- Deadline-driven and ability to work independently
