About the Role:
The Food Services Assistant supports Cooks and Chefs in food production, operates cash registers, serves food, and maintains cleanliness in the canteen and kitchen. This role ensures compliance with statutory hygiene and cleanliness standards while delivering high-quality customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation & Service:
- Assist in preparing meals, especially salads and desserts.
- Ensure the serving line is well-stocked and clean.
- Place entrees, salads, desserts, and other items on the serving line.
- Store and record food leftovers.
Hygiene & Cleanliness:
- Maintain cleanliness in canteen tables, the kitchen, and other areas.
- Adhere to hygiene and health standards within all tasks.
Customer Service:
- Meet customer expectations within contract provisions.
- Report and act on customer complaints or compliments.
- Ensure high levels of customer service in designated areas.
Stock & Shift Management:
- Count and sign over stock to the next shift staff where applicable.
- Restock shelves and fridges in the resale area daily.
Operational Duties:
- Carry out management requests and assist with additional tasks as needed.
- Participate in meetings and training courses to enhance skills.
- Assist in training new employees as required.
Skills and Competencies Required:
- Enjoy practical, methodical work.
- Honest and reliable with strong personal hygiene.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Able to work quickly and safely.
- Strong communication skills and team-oriented.
- Physically fit with stamina to work 45-50 hours per week.
- Ability to bend, stand, and lift as required.
- Free from skin allergies to foods and detergents.
Qualifications:
- Minimum age: 18 years.
- Must have completed a National Senior Certificate.
