Key Responsibilities
Customer Service Excellence
- Adherence to Service Standards: Maintain a thorough understanding of Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and ensure all interactions align with these standards.
- Build Customer Relationships: Foster a professional rapport with customers, responding to inquiries and addressing any issues they may have.
- Manage Compliments and Complaints: Report feedback, whether positive or negative, to the Frontline Supervisor or Store Management to enhance service delivery.
- Sales Awareness: Stay updated on current promotions, sales, and special offers to inform customers and maximize sales opportunities.
Financial Transactions and Cash Management
- Cash Handling: Handle cash transactions accurately, following Dis-Chem’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to reduce discrepancies.
- Payment Processing: Process all customer payments, including cash, credit cards, debit cards, vouchers, and coupons, adhering to company policies.
- Loyalty Programs: Facilitate loyalty card transactions, including those linked with partners like Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks.
- Drop Safe Procedures: Ensure cash is deposited into the drop safe according to established SOPs, promoting secure cash flow management.
Security and Risk Management
- Code and Password Security: Ensure that access codes and passwords remain confidential, are used solely by you, and are regularly updated to maintain security.
- Product Scanning and Payment Verification: Ensure that all outgoing items, including prescriptions, are scanned and paid for before leaving the store to prevent theft and fraud.
- Confidentiality of Cash Drawer Contents: Handle daily takings discreetly and only discuss cash-related matters with management.
- Suspicious Activity Monitoring: Stay vigilant for any suspicious behavior and promptly report it to management to protect both customers and colleagues.
Store Operations Support
- Product Knowledge: Assist customers by answering queries regarding store merchandise, providing guidance on product location, and recommending suitable alternatives if required.
- Line Voids and Price Adjustments: Obtain necessary supervisor approval for line voids, refunds, and price adjustments, following store policy and preventing unauthorized modifications.
- Customer Exchanges and Returns: Manage customer exchanges and returns in accordance with Dis-Chem’s guidelines, ensuring customer satisfaction while safeguarding store policies.
- Sales Targets and Turnover Rate: Meet the hourly turnover rate by actively engaging with customers, processing transactions efficiently, and reducing wait times.
Minimum Requirements
To be eligible for the Cashier role at Dis-Chem Pharmacies Berea Pharmacy, applicants must meet the following essential requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric.
- Experience: At least six months of experience in cashiering or till operations, preferably within a retail environment.
- Computer Literacy: Proficiency in MS Office and basic computer skills for operating point-of-sale systems.
