Trafalgar Durban Office is seeking a Community Scheme Bookkeeper for a fixed-term position. The ideal candidate should be analytical, proactive, deadline-driven, and capable of working under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Analysis: Ensure accuracy, completeness, and validity of information using Qdocs for cross-referencing.
  • Journal Entries: Capture entries to correct misallocations and update external and investment account balances.
  • PTB Review: Review Chairman Pack reports for variances or concerns and escalate to Portfolio Managers.
  • Municipal Reconciliations & Claims: Update municipal reconciliations and handle insurance claims, petty cash, and legal fee enquiries.
  • Budget Preparation: Prepare and load annual budgets, cross-referencing financial information using Unibase and Qdocs.
  • Taxation: Prepare and submit income tax returns and VAT returns, ensuring compliance with SARS.
  • Audit File Preparation: Scrutinize general ledgers, resolve audit queries, distribute AFS, and capture audit adjustments on Unibase.
  • General: Respond to email queries within 24 hours, maintain building control schedules, and manage financial records.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in finance or accounting (property experience is advantageous).
  • At least 2 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
  • Knowledge of the Sectional Title Act, Companies Act, Income Tax Act, and VAT Act.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Audit background (advantageous).
