Job Overview:

Trafalgar Durban is seeking a Bookkeeping Manager to lead their Sectional Title bookkeeping team. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations and meeting service requirements for their clients.

Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Analysis: Ensure accuracy, completeness, and validity of information. Use Qdocs for cross-referencing.
  • Journal Entries: Capture entries to correct misallocations and update external and investment account balances.
  • Bank Account Oversight: Monitor reserve fund bank accounts and ensure equity accounts are balanced.
  • Reporting: Escalate variances and issues on Chairman Pack reports to Portfolio Managers.
  • Reconciliations: Handle municipal reconciliations monthly and escalate queries regarding insurance claims, petty cash, and legal fees.
  • Chairman’s Packs: Ensure monthly packs are sent within the relevant timeframe.
  • Budget Preparation: Prepare annual and reserve fund budgets, incorporating the 10-year maintenance plan.
  • Taxation: Prepare and submit income tax returns, VAT returns, and maintain compliance with SARS.
  • Audit Preparation: Scrutinize general ledgers and prepare audit files, ensuring completeness and validity of financial data.
  • New Take-Ons: Manage the accounting requirements for new buildings under the portfolio.
  • Team Management: Provide continuous support to the accounting team and portfolio managers.

Requirements:

  • Strong financial management experience, particularly in property or sectional title management.
  • Expertise in tax compliance, financial reporting, and budget preparation.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

Reporting Lines:

The Bookkeeping Manager will report directly to the National Accounts Manager and will be accountable to the Community Scheme Department Manager.
