Company Overview:
Glencore, one of the world’s largest global diversified natural resource companies, is seeking an experienced Employee Communications Specialist focused on digital platforms for our Group Corporate Affairs Department. Based in our Melrose office in Johannesburg, this role is integral to our strategy of engaging employees, fostering a high-performance culture, and maintaining Glencore’s reputation globally.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management for Digital Communications:
- Manage projects related to the company intranet and digital communication tools, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and milestones.
- Collaborate with IT, commodity departments, and other functions to ensure smooth project implementation, managing risks and troubleshooting issues.
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, coordinating regular updates and addressing concerns.
Content Creation and Management:
- Create and update engaging content for employee communication channels, including intranet news, announcements, multimedia, and other digital content, ensuring alignment with Glencore’s brand guidelines.
- Develop and refresh content for global and local office intranet sites, ensuring local relevance while maintaining global consistency.
- Assist in onboarding new locations onto the global intranet and train teams to create digital content.
Strategic Communication Support:
- Collaborate with team members on strategic communication initiatives to ensure content aligns with Glencore’s business strategy, purpose, and values.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop content ideas that enhance employee engagement and support organisational change.
Brand Consistency and Analytics:
- Ensure all content is consistent with Glencore’s tone, brand, and design guidelines.
- Monitor and analyse engagement metrics for digital content, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Digital Platforms, Organisational Psychology, Change Management, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Content Development Experience: Proven experience in corporate content creation, writing, and editing, preferably in industries such as mining, trading, or employee communications.
- Project Management: Experience managing digital communication projects, including intranet and digital tool deployment.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using content management systems (CMS) like SharePoint or WordPress, and familiar with Microsoft 365 and analytics tools.
- Excellent Writing and Editing Skills with attention to detail and consistency across all content.
- Organisational and Team Collaboration Skills with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills:
- Native or fluent English speaker (additional languages are an advantage).
- Proficiency in handling content management systems and digital tools for internal communication.
