Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Deal Validation Manager to lead and develop our growing Product Risk/Validation team, based in Melrose, Johannesburg. This role will support our Product Risk/Validation team in Baar, Switzerland, focusing on the validation of commercial deals, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensuring seamless coordination between teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of 4-6 members, providing coaching, mentoring, and conducting performance reviews.
  • Recruitment: Screen and interview candidates, working closely with Team Leads in Switzerland.
  • Process Improvement: Identify automation opportunities to improve periodic tasks.
  • Deal Validation: Validate deal entries and commercial terms for various commodities.
  • Issue Resolution: Clarify discrepancies with the commercial team.
  • KPI Monitoring: Review and distribute KPI dashboards daily, escalating issues as needed.
  • Reporting: Prepare and review periodic position and profit/loss (P&L) reports, offering commentary on key drivers.
  • Cross-Team Coordination: Liaise with the Product Risk/Validation team in Baar, Switzerland, ensuring smooth operations.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant NQF Level 7 Qualification in Data Science or Information Systems.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Leadership Experience: At least 4 years in a leadership role, preferably within commodity trading or financial services.
  • Data Analytics: Experience working in a data analytics environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong IT knowledge, including MS Office Suite, Excel, and Power BI.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure high-quality, accurate data management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-Solving: Initiative in resolving issues methodically.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to manage expectations efficiently.
