Job Description

The Excavator Operator is responsible for performing excavating and loading tasks in compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Standard Task Procedures (STP). The role involves ensuring operational efficiency while adhering to safety regulations and job site conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Excavating and Loading: Efficiently excavate and load materials as per operational requirements.
• Levelling and Cleaning: Use the bucket to level surfaces and clean job sites.
• Ad-hoc Tasks: Perform additional tasks as required to support operational needs.
• Safety Compliance: Conduct all tasks in accordance with relevant safety rules, regulations, and job site conditions.
• Pre-Start Inspection: Conduct a walk-around inspection of the excavator prior to operation.
• Defect Reporting: Report all defects and operational issues immediately.
• Checklist Completion: Complete the pre-start checklist to ensure operational readiness.
• Housekeeping: Maintain general housekeeping of the excavator and work area to promote a safe working environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum Grade 12.
• Valid Competency Certificate for operating an Excavator.

Experience

• Approximately 3 years of relevant work experience in an earthmoving environment.
• Familiarity with mining equipment and safety-related standards specific to excavators.

Additional Requirements

• Medical fitness record to ensure capability for the role.
