Job Overview:
We are seeking a Carpenter Assistant with cabinetry and vanity experience to join our dynamic team at VKB Retail. The ideal candidate will be involved in various carpentry projects, specializing in cabinets and customer-focused work. The role includes interpreting client requests, preparing project mock-ups, and assisting in the building and installation of cabinets and other carpentry-related projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed drawings for cabinetry, framing, and other carpentry projects.
• Interpret client requests and create mock-ups for client approval.
• Build cabinets and other carpentry-related projects based on customer demand.
• Assist in room framing for client additions.
• Select and inspect materials, ensuring quality standards.
• Install cabinets, counters, and molding following local code requirements.
• Maintain high standards of customer service and project execution.

Requirements:

• Grade 12 or NQF 4 qualification.
• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in finish carpentry (rough carpentry experience preferred).
• Proficiency in power tools such as skill saws, mitre saws, jigsaws, and other hand tools.
• Reliable transportation to job sites.
• Physical capability to lift at least 36 kg and work on ladders.
• Knowledge of lumber grades and countertop materials.
• Willingness to work overtime when required to meet project deadlines.

• Strong adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent analytical, numeracy, and interpersonal skills.
• Advanced computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
