Purpose of the Job:
The Specialist: Forensics is responsible for investigating fraud and forensics-related matters to minimize corruption and fraud incidents within the Road Accident Fund (RAF).
Key Performance Areas:
1. Policy Review and Implementation:
- Contribute to developing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, and processes.
- Stay updated on effective policy execution strategies.
2. Forensic Investigation:
- Plan and coordinate investigations assigned by management.
- Maintain relationships with prosecuting authorities and law enforcement agencies.
- Compile reports for submission to the Forensics Manager.
- Identify loopholes in processes and report them to the Forensic Manager.
- Investigate irregularities to secure the prosecution of guilty parties.
- Maintain relationships with external stakeholders, law enforcement, and private investigation partners.
- Prepare affidavits on behalf of RAF for criminal charges.
- Open criminal cases with police or Hawks (DPCI) and maintain records.
- Provide evidence at criminal courts and departmental hearings.
- Support other RAF departments with investigations.
- Meet set investigation targets.
- Investigate reports from Tip-Offs Anonymous.
- Participate in fraud awareness campaigns.
3. Fraud Prevention and Investigation:
- Implement approved fraud and investigation initiatives to enhance organizational ethics.
- Promote fraud prevention initiatives.
- Assist with internal and external fraud investigations.
- Support the Claims department by providing properly investigated cases.
- Help develop systems to detect fraud in the claims lifecycle.
4. Reporting:
- Prepare and submit periodic reports.
- Provide proposals, presentations, and documentation to management.
5. Stakeholder Management:
- Implement forensics awareness initiatives.
- Facilitate communication with stakeholders.
- Proactively engage with key stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma in Law, Accounting, Auditing, or Forensic Investigations.
- 5-7 years of experience in a fraud investigation-related environment.
