Job Overview:
The Guest Relations Consultant is responsible for ensuring that all guest needs and requests are met, contributing to a memorable stay. This role involves daily interaction with guests, handling administrative tasks, providing reservation information, and acting as the communication hub for the lodge, ensuring all departments and third parties receive necessary information promptly.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Interaction & Reception:
- Perform all reception-related functions, including guest interaction, hosting, and administrative tasks.
- Obtain all necessary reservation information prior to guest arrivals and follow up on the day of arrival.
- Welcome and check-in guests, providing a seamless guest arrival experience.
- Manage guest departures, including processing payments, collecting keys, and providing farewell amenities (e.g., lunch packs).
- Offer guests comprehensive information about accommodation, services, and activities.
Guest Relations:
- Ensure a high level of personal attention and guest relations throughout the guest’s stay.
- Participate in hosting meals when required.
- Conduct room and guest area checks to ensure housekeeping and service standards are maintained.
- Communicate guest preferences and dietary requirements to relevant departments before arrival and during the stay.
Communication & Coordination:
- Act as the communication hub between departments and third parties, including park gate staff, tour operators, travel agents, and transfer companies.
- Follow sustainability practices as outlined by MORE Sustainability Group Standards.
Flexibility & Adaptability:
- Adapt to changing working hours and shifts as required in a 24-hour operation.
Requirements – Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Grade 12; a qualification in Travel and Tourism is advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a similar position.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge of ResRequest (advantageous).
- Understanding of overall hospitality operations.
- Strong people skills, with tolerance, patience, and care.
- Presentable and well-spoken.
- Additional: Must be a South African citizen or hold a valid work permit.
