Purpose of Role:

The Employee Relations Business Partner will focus on promoting positive employee relations, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations, and providing guidance to employees and management. The role supports the optimization of organizational performance and enhances employee wellbeing within Tharisa Minerals.

Key Responsibilities:

Employee Relations Management:

  • Provide expert advice on employee discipline, litigation, and HR-related systems.
  • Mediate conflicts, grievances, and disputes, facilitating resolutions.
  • Ensure clear communication between management and employees.
  • Implement and audit disciplinary procedures consistently.
  • Conduct internal investigations impartially and confidentially.
  • Organize and deliver training sessions on conflict resolution and employee relations.
  • Maintain accurate records of ER cases and prepare reports.

Compliance Management:

  • Stay updated with South African labor laws and industry standards.
  • Ensure the company’s policies and practices comply with relevant legislation.
  • Monitor and maintain HR systems to meet stakeholder and legal requirements.

Resource Management:

  • Assess and allocate necessary resources for achieving departmental objectives.
  • Monitor asset usage within the team to ensure efficiency.

Stakeholder Relations:

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maintain alignment with ER objectives.
  • Keep stakeholders informed about ER trends and developments in the mining industry.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (NQF7) or equivalent in Human Resources, Employee/Labour Relations, Personnel Management, or Labour Law (LLB).
  • Experience: 3-5 years in HR or Employee Relations, with at least 2 years in the Mining Industry.
  • Knowledge of handling Trade Union Shop Stewards, CCMA cases, and disciplinary processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Advantageous: Experience with pre-arbitration, Labour Court cases, and training/upskilling colleagues.

Inherent Requirements:

  • Must be medically fit.
