RCL FOODS is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our dynamic Engineering Team at our Pretoria West plant. Reporting to the Plant Engineer, this role is crucial in assisting with both mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks to ensure seamless operations within the FMCG environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mechanical Maintenance: Assist in the inspection and repair of machinery and equipment as per supplier guidelines and maintenance manuals.
• Provide hands-on support for the maintenance of production machinery such as:
  • Standby Generators, Fillers, and Shrink Wrappers
  • Boilers and Ammonia Plants
  • Air Compressors and Air Handling Units
  • Pallet Jacks and Water Purification Plants
• Civil Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, and repair water systems and plumbing as per maintenance schedules. Assist in maintaining building infrastructure.
• Electrical Maintenance: Support the electrical repair of the plant and buildings in response to breakdowns and ongoing maintenance tasks.
• Carry out preventative maintenance on equipment to reduce downtime and ensure smooth operations.
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements and food safety standards.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric or equivalent
• NQF 5 or NQF 6 Technical Qualifications (advantageous)
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a FMCG environment

Essential Knowledge:

• Proficiency in welding and measuring tools
• Basic knowledge of fitting and boiler systems
• Familiarity with air compressors and related equipment
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety practices
• Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
• Basic understanding of different types of lubricants
