Overview:
BME’s Losberg facility is seeking an Automation Machine Operator responsible for operating automated manufacturing units. The role involves overseeing machines that perform assembly and quality control tasks with minimal human intervention. The successful candidate will ensure that the products meet safety and quality standards while optimizing operational performance.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 certificate
• Post-grade 12 qualification (technical post-matric qualification advantageous)

Experience:

• Experience operating an automated assembly line (beneficial)
• Proven mechanical aptitude

Key Responsibilities:

• Machine Operation: Start, stop, and monitor automated machines in accordance with work instructions
• Quality Control: Immediately stop or intervene if any process upset or malfunction impacts product quality or safety
• Performance Monitoring: Ensure yield targets are consistently met, and perform basic troubleshooting when necessary
• Maintenance: Conduct routine cleaning and ensure continuous raw material supply
• Safety Compliance: Work with hazardous materials, ensuring adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Explosives Act regulations
• Reporting: Compile production and quality reports, providing critical data to maintain operational standards
• Team Support: Assist and direct assembly assistants and work closely with automation technicians for repairs and adjustments
• Raw Material Checks: Perform quality checks on raw materials and identify process upsets

Job Competencies:

• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work with human-machine interfaces (HMI) and basic computer skills to control assembly lines
• Quick response to machine alarms and process upsets
• Excellent team player with the ability to work in a physically demanding role
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Physically fit and able to work standing for most of the shift
• No criminal record
