Job Description:
Join our team as a Trainee Bakery Manager and play a vital role in overseeing the Bakery Department’s operations. You will manage hygiene, safety, production processes, and stock to maximize gross margins and profits. This role offers opportunities for growth and requires flexibility across multiple store locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hygiene and Safety:
- Ensure high standards of hygiene, housekeeping, and safe working practices are upheld.
- Maintain adherence to security procedures within the Bakery Department.
- Production Management:
- Plan and coordinate the daily, weekly, and monthly production of bakery products in line with company specifications.
- Conduct regular quality checks on bakery products.
- Stock and Expense Management:
- Order and manage stock effectively to prevent wastage, shrinkage, and damages.
- Control expenses according to company standards and complete all administrative tasks, including scheduling, leave requests, pricing, and costs, accurately and promptly.
- Customer Service:
- Engage with customers, listen to their requests, and provide appropriate products or services.
- Performance and Staff Management:
- Monitor and develop team members’ performance, acknowledging good performance and addressing areas needing improvement.
- Ensure all bakery staff provide high-quality services and products to customers.
- Profitability and Reporting:
- Analyze the department’s profitability and make recommendations or take action when necessary.
- Maintain and update relevant documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Requirements:
- Qualifications and Experience:
- Preferably an NQF 3 Bakery qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Baker or Bakery Supervisor.
- Competencies:
- Ability to identify and prioritize urgent matters.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to generate workable solutions.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to advise customers on products.
- Flexibility and willingness to perform various tasks as needed.
