Job Overview:
Unitrans has an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced Petroleum Tanker Driver to join our Petroleum Division at the Masana Alrode site in Alberton, Gauteng. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently operating ultra-heavy-duty vehicles, specifically designed for transporting petroleum products. This role requires a driver with a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to work under varying conditions, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trip Preparation: Prepare the vehicle for each trip, ensuring all necessary checks and preparations are made.
- Vehicle Operation: Operate ultra-heavy-duty vehicles with a gross vehicle mass exceeding 25,000 kg, ensuring safe and efficient transportation of petroleum products.
- Vehicle Inspections: Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip, identifying any potential issues that could affect safety or performance.
- Documentation Handling: Manage all required documentation from dispatch, delivery to the customer, and return to the distribution center, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Roadworthiness: Take full responsibility for the roadworthiness of the vehicle when leaving the depot, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations.
- Accountability: Ensure that all goods transported are accounted for and delivered in accordance with customer requirements.
- Compliance: Follow all reasonable instructions from the supervisor, adhering strictly to company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Flexibility: Be prepared to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by the operational demands.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 / Matric / NQF level 4; alternatively, Grade 10 / NQF level 2.
- Licenses: Code EC with PrDP – “D” if required to operate a Dangerous Goods (DG) vehicle.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a petroleum driver with a safe driving record.
- Records: A clean criminal record is mandatory.
