Job Description:
Mercedes-Benz The Glen is looking for three Apprentice L1 candidates to join their team. The primary purpose of this role is to assist in the repair and servicing of passenger cars and vans according to the dealer’s and distributor’s standards and specifications. The role includes diagnosing faults, using diagnostic equipment, and providing technical services to support the service department.

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Apprentice L1 will work alongside experienced technicians to develop their skills in vehicle repair and maintenance. The position involves using modern diagnostic tools, discussing service details with customers, and ensuring that vehicles are repaired and returned in excellent condition.

Specific Role Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fault diagnosis to expedite vehicle servicing.
  • Use diagnostic equipment for vehicle examinations and follow DCSA procedures and policies during repairs.
  • Accurately diagnose faults and discuss findings with Service Advisors.
  • Maintain vehicle care and safety during servicing and minimize comebacks.
  • Respond to breakdown calls as required.
  • Return vehicles to customers clean and in good condition after service.
  • Sign for parts used and ensure unused parts are returned to the parts department.
  • Provide cost-effective solutions to vehicle faults and complaints.
  • Complete necessary service forms, documentation, and reports.
  • Participate in promotional campaigns and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Attend Daimler and Cargo Motors training courses and assist with other duties as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Grade 12 with Maths and Physical Science.
  • N2 Certificate with Engineering Science, Technical Drawing, Maths, and Motor Trade Theory.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a team environment.
  • High attention to detail.
