Export Controller
Job Type: Full-Time

Purpose of the Job
The Export Controller will handle the full function of export shipments, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of all related documentation and logistics.
Key Responsibilities
Customers’ Export Shipments:
- Ensure receipt of necessary documents from customers to handle shipments.
- Prepare all export documentation on Ship Shape.
- Book shipments accurately, ensuring they meet the required stack and other conditions.
- Arrange bookings with various modes of transport and negotiate the best possible rates.
- Ensure customs documents are released before export.
- Register all shipment files on Ship Shape, including relevant information.
- Ensure customers receive all relevant shipping documents.
- Track and trace shipments until final delivery, keeping customers updated.
- Print and place all correspondence into shipment files.
- Monitor and handle all shipments through agents.
- Ensure all PODs (Proof of Deliveries) are received before payments are made to transporters.
- Ensure all acquittals are received back within the prescribed period.
Export Certificates:
- Prepare export certificates through JCCI (Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
- Accurately prepare SADC (Southern African Development Community) certificates in accordance with SARS (South African Revenue Service) rules and regulations.
Refund of Duty Claims:
- Ensure accurate completion of all shipment applications.
- Obtain proof of export documents and submit to customs within the prescribed period.
General Back-Up:
- Assist other departments as necessary and when required.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Clearing and Forwarding.
- Advanced computer literacy in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Valid, unendorsed driver’s license.
- Valid passport.
Skills Required
- Ability to develop new administrative systems or procedures for the department.
- Competency in managing and controlling administrative systems.
- Ability to compile customer profiles and interpret usage patterns to determine needs.
- Capability to make recommendations on tariff design, service changes, product development, or infrastructure changes based on consumer trends and customer feedback.
- Ability to execute specific logistics-related tasks under direct supervision.
