Job Description:
As a Fish Filleter, you play a crucial role in preparing fish for customers. You’ll handle different types of fish, ensuring they are cleaned, filleted, and ready for sale. Attention to detail and commitment to quality are key to success in this role. You will report directly to the Supervisor and may need to work various shifts, including Sundays and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fish Preparation: Fillet fish with precision, ensuring freshness and quality. Use knives and tools, including a bandsaw, to cut fish into the right sizes.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional service with a positive attitude, assisting customers with their fish purchases.
- Merchandising: Arrange and merchandise the fresh fish counter and seafood freezers to attract customers.
- Housekeeping & Safety: Follow housekeeping and food safety procedures strictly in line with company policies.
- Operational Maintenance: Ensure all operational systems are maintained and assist in managing waste and shrinkage within the department.
- Stock Management: Participate in weekly stock takes and monitor product codes, ensuring accurate stock levels.
- Promotion Awareness: Stay informed about promotions and advertisements, maximizing sales opportunities within the department.
- Communication & Time Management: Maintain strong communication and time management skills to efficiently complete tasks, especially during busy periods.
- Product Knowledge: Have a good understanding of fresh and frozen fish (both local and imported) and how to handle them.
Requirements:
- Education: Matric certificate (must be presented if selected for an interview).
- Experience: Knowledge and experience in a fresh fish retail environment.
- Availability: Willingness to work 6 shifts per week, including Sundays and public holidays.
- Proximity: Must live within a reasonable traveling distance from the job location.
