Reporting Line:
This position reports to the Group Head of Advertising.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve growth and meet sales targets by effectively managing the advertising sales teams.
- Utilize a data-driven sales approach to track, measure, and analyze sales performance.
- Design and implement a strategic sales strategy across retail, marketplace, and CRM teams to expand the customer base and improve customer retention.
- Build and foster strong, long-lasting customer relationships by understanding their needs and delivering value through Takealot’s offerings.
- Ensure that all customer-facing materials and interactions are of world-class standard.
- Oversee the design and costing of high-value, customized campaigns in consultation with senior executives.
- Engage in executive-level discussions with brands and agencies to unlock key advertising opportunities for the Takealot Group.
- Be accountable for overall sales performance, identifying core challenges and implementing solutions to address them.
- Manage interrelationships between divisions (Marketing, Merchandising, and Product) to effectively oversee the advertising sales function.
- Present sales, revenue, expense reports, and realistic forecasts to the management team.
- Own, update, and maintain the Takealot Advertising Rate Card.
- Identify emerging opportunities and market shifts, staying aware of new products and competition.
- Collaborate with the advertising product team to build and commercialize bespoke advertising solutions and improve sales processes through technology.
- Recruit, mentor, coach, and manage the performance of sales team leaders and representatives.
Required Attributes:
- Deep knowledge of the digital advertising space.
- Proven ability to develop and manage high-performing sales teams, driving revenue targets.
- Strong commercial management skills with a sales focus.
- Skilled in managing high-value accounts and relationships at an executive level.
- Ability to prioritize effectively and manage uncertainty in a hyper-growth environment.
- Creative and practical problem-solving skills; solution-oriented mindset.
- Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to work independently and achieve diverse goals in a challenging environment.
- High level of integrity and respect.
- Resilience and perseverance to overcome challenges and achieve objectives.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably with a Postgraduate degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven track record of success in sales management.
- 5 years of experience in a sales management role within the advertising/media space, preferably digital.
- Proven ability to consistently hit sales targets.
- Experience in an e-commerce environment is a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience managing a team.
