Takealot.com, South Africa’s leading online retailer, is searching for a driven and detail-oriented DC Champion to join our Supply Chain team at our Johannesburg Warehouse. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and organization of the department, contributing directly to our business’s goals and growth.

Reporting Line:
This position reports directly to the Inbound Shift Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the department is well-organized and aligned with the business’s goals.
• Implement and maintain processes, procedures, and systems to minimize costs and optimize working capital.
• Maintain clean, tidy, and safe work areas for staff.
• Evaluate daily operational reports to control key areas of the department and address any discrepancies.
• Manage control measures to highlight, address, and resolve mistakes, inaccuracies, and discrepancies.
• Ensure all processes are completed within the same day and collaborate with line Managers for daily planning.
• Oversee DC Assistants, motivating them to maintain accuracy and achieve turn-around times.
• Assist in managing departmental outputs, focusing on maintaining work quality and quantity.
• Ensure productivity targets are met.
• Assist in maintaining FIFO (First In, First Out) of tasks within the department.
• Resolve escalated daily operational queries from the team promptly.

Required Attributes:

• Detailed understanding of warehouse management systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a demanding and customer-focused environment.
• Exceptional personal organization and business administration skills, aligned with modern best practices.
• Ability to work productively, efficiently, and effectively under tight deadlines and pressure while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
• Willingness to learn, improve, and adapt.
• Team player with a strong work ethic, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work as part of a multi-cultural team.
• Ability to train staff effectively.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Matric or equivalent qualification.
• Tertiary qualification advantageous.
• Proven relevant experience in Picking, Packing, Receiving, Supplier Collects, and Inventory (within applicable DC departments).
• 4-5 years of warehouse experience.
• 2 years of supervisory experience/exposure would be advantageous.
