Reporting Line:
This role reports to the Department Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate all warehousing functions, focusing on both Inbound and Outbound operations.
  • Drive the efficiency of the Distribution Centre by identifying and implementing optimal processes to minimize costs and maximize working capital.
  • Oversee all aspects of stock handling, from picking orders to dispatching parcels, ensuring seamless operations.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly planning for Inbound and Outbound operations, including resource allocation, staff organization, and seasonal adjustments.
  • Manage housekeeping, safety, and compliance, collaborating closely with the OHS Officer and adhering to business standards.
  • Lead and motivate the operations team to achieve key business goals through effective communication and involvement.
  • Handle customer queries and ensure timely resolution, addressing any trends in exceptions.
  • Optimize warehouse space, equipment, and workflow while planning for future needs.
  • Maintain stock accuracy through disciplined control and implement initiatives to improve accuracy.
  • Measure and manage staff performance, including conducting appraisals, providing coaching, and handling disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure all business processes and job profiles are documented, updated, and communicated to staff.
  • Report on operational performance, productivity, stock control, and budget adherence.
  • Participate in the annual budget process and control monthly operational costs.
  • Manage the safe and efficient operation of DC automation systems.
  • Oversee the procurement and use of packaging materials, ensuring cost-effectiveness and accuracy.
  • Lead projects within stipulated timeframes, liaising with suppliers as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards and legislation.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including national operations, HR, risk & security, and other support functions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or National Diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain, or Logistics.
  • 8-10 years of experience in Supply Chain Operations, with expertise in operational project management.
  • Proven experience managing a large team (140+ staff).
  • Strong background in continuous improvement (LEAN principles, 5S, cost-saving initiatives).
  • Demonstrated success in implementing best practices in distribution and warehousing.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A structured and disciplined management style with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • High energy levels and a self-starting attitude.
  • Well-developed business acumen and analytical mindset.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong customer service focus.
  • Dynamic individual with experience in delivering change and innovative solutions.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment, preferably in e-commerce.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and working with budgets and cost analysis.
  • LEAN or continuous improvement expertise.
  • Performance management skills, including knowledge of Industrial Relations practices.
  • Strong financial acumen.

Working Hours:

  • Flexibility to work weekends and overtime regularly.
  • Night shifts may be required during peak months.
