Job Description:
The Cashier at the Lephalale Depot will manage all cash transactions, ensuring accuracy and security. Responsibilities include receiving and recounting cash from drivers, processing payments, preparing bank deposits, and maintaining accurate records of all financial transactions. The role demands meticulous attention to detail and adherence to security protocols, including locking cash in the safe overnight and keeping the cash office secure at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cash Handling:
- Receive and recount cash from drivers.
- Process payments against the correct driver receipts.
- Prepare and balance daily cash to ensure accuracy.
- Record cash and cheques in the cash-up summary.
- Security Measures:
- Keep the cash office door locked at all times.
- Lock cash in the safe overnight.
- Ensure that the previous day’s takings are removed from the premises promptly.
- Record seal numbers in the appropriate register.
- Accuracy & Compliance:
- Minimize cash shortages.
- Follow established financial accounting principles and practices.
- Ensure high levels of accuracy in all transactions and related documentation.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education:
- Grade 12 with a focus on Mathematics and Accounting.
- Experience:
- 2-3 years of experience as a cashier, or in banking and general office roles.
- Skills:
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Knowledge of Syspro is advantageous.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Logical and analytical thinking capabilities.
