Job Description:

The Cashier at the Bochum Depot is responsible for handling all cash transactions efficiently and securely. The role involves receiving and recounting cash from drivers, processing payments, preparing bank deposits, and maintaining accurate records of all cash and cheque transactions. Ensuring that the cash balances daily and securing the cash office are key responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cash Management:
  • Receive and recount cash from drivers.
  • Process payments correctly against driver receipts.
  • Ensure the daily cash balances and prepare bank deposits accordingly.
  • Record all cash and cheque transactions in the cash-up summary.
  • Ensure that previous day’s cash is removed from the premises promptly.
• Security:
  • Keep the cash office door locked at all times.
  • Lock cash in the safe overnight and maintain the security of all cash transactions.
  • Record seal numbers in the appropriate register.
• Accuracy & Compliance:
  • Minimize cash shortages.
  • Follow financial accounting principles and practices.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy in all transactions and documentation.

Minimum Requirements:

• Education:
  • Grade 12 with a focus on Mathematics and Accounting.
• Experience:
  • 2-3 years of experience as a cashier or in a banking role, with general office experience.
• Skills:
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience with Syspro is advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Logical and analytical thinking abilities.
